Review, Author Q&A & Giveaway
Remembrance
by Michelle Madow
New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

Q&A with Michelle Madow...
Michelle was nice enough to take some time to answer a few questions.

Me: First, congratulations on what a hit Remembrance is! I for one LOVED it. I fell for the characters especially, did you use any of the people in your life to help you create these people?

Michelle: Thank you—I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it! The characters in Remembrance are all created from my imagination.

Me: Did you have a hard time writing any of the characters or did it just pour out?

Michelle: Before I write a novel I create character bio’s for each character, so when I started writing Remembrance the characters had already been created and developed. By the time I started writing Remembrance, it all poured out! The hardest character for me to write was Hannah, because she actually wasn’t even in the first draft. I added her in later!

Me: What are some of your favorite authors?

Michelle: Some of my favorite authors are JK Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Suzanne Collins, Scott Westerfeld, and Julie Kagawa.

Me: If you had your choice, who would you want to collaborate with on a novel/Anthology?

Michelle: Definitely Taryn Browning—my critique partner, agent-mate, and friend! She writes YA as well, and I definitely think working on a novel/anthology with her would be fun.

Me: Are you working on anything now? If so can you tell us what it is *bats eyelashes*?

Michelle: Since Remembrance I've written two other novels, both in the YA genre. One is a fusion of Greek mythology and witchcraft, and the other is "Gossip Girl meets Las Vegas." I've also got a surprise in the works right now, and I plan on announcing what that is in the beginning of October!

Thank You so much to Michelle for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer those! *whew* I'm still kinda nervous that was my very first Q & A with an Author *grins* I hopefully will get better with the questions as time goes on.

Review: 5x5
This is a wicked good story! I really enjoyed slipping away to New Hampshire *where the story takes place*. There are great Pride & Prejudice references and I have MAJOR love for that story, so that added greatly to it. The characters are amazing and very well written, normal teenagers and very well developed. Remembrance has a story all its own and is a super fantastic read! I suggest you GET IT!! Read it and fall in LOVE!

Review: Conflicted by Julia Crane

In the Elfin world, magic and destiny determine who will be together. "Chosen" pairs are fated to meet at the age of 18.

Keegan, however, is an anomaly. Having fallen in the battle between the Light and the Dark, she is only alive now due to Black Magic, and her bond with her Chosen is broken. She cannot remember Rourk at all.

For the first time, she feels like a normal teenager. She is dating Donald, her long-time crush, and everything seems perfect. But Rourk still feels their bond, and despairs for the woman he was always meant to love.

Keegan’s best friend Anna is determined to find a way to use her powers to return Keegan’s bond, no matter what it takes. The question is does Keegan even want it?

Review: 4x5

I am so sad! I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so what happened you ask? Well, I have to say that the characters were just very immature (17 going on 18) they were constantly acting like 5 year olds. Also, the writing went downhill for me, it seemed to drag out in places then fly through what could have been some really great parts. I totally love the basis for this series and while I had to make myself finish this one I will read the next because I really want to see what happens to everyone and see if anything has changed.

**Update :) I have moved this to a 4 star review b/c I can now see where the Author was going with Keegan...she has lost her bond and so she is reverting to being spoiled and selfish which I can totally get. So I guess there is a reason for all the immatureness *is that a word?*

Review: Coexist by Julia Crane

Sixteen-year-old Keegan is struggling to keep her huge secret from her friends--she's an elf, descended from a long line of elves that live in secrecy alongside humans. In elfin society, mates are predetermined but not allowed to meet until they are eighteen. Against tradition, Keegan's brother Thaddeus told her Rourk's name because his visions warned him she'd need Rourk's protection, especially since Keegan will play a key role in the coming war between the dark and light elves. Rourk finds himself drawn to Keegan's side every time she thinks his name. He wants to talk to her but remains in the shadows, silently guarding her every time she mentally beckons him. A twist of fate thrusts the two of them together when Rourk is forced to step up his protection and make his presence known. An ancient prophecy deeply entwines Keegan's family and the future of their society. Somehow they must find a way to thwart fate and win the battle...without losing Keegan. With war brewing, and dark forces aligning, will Keegan and Rourk ever have the life together that they both desire?

Review: 5x5

Marie Lu is an exceptional author! Just wanted to get that out there :) This world she has created in Legend is beyond anything I could have imagined. It is divided beyond measure by the Republic / colonies / and patriots. We get a look at Republic life and it is scary!!
June is an amazing girl! She is super smart, fast, cunning, and brave yet she has not let any of that go to her head. Day is also super amazing as he shares all these qualities also but he is super poor and a fugitive :)

Loads of mystery , action, suspense and jaw dropping moments *I literally had to throw the book down a couple times* It's super intense and It's amazing!! Recommend this to all who like/love the above!! IT'S WORTH IT :)

The Discovery of Socket Greeny

The Discovery of Socket Greeny
By Tony Bertauski

Socket Greeny lives in an era of technology. After school, he hops into the virtualmode (a virtual world of fighting) and lives for the adrenaline rush. In fact, he practically prefers virtualmode to reality. In his actual reality, his mother’'s first priority is her work, so he’s always home alone. He doesn’t even know what she does for a living!
One day, his reality (or is it his virtualmode?) shatters. He learns exactly what his mother does; she works for The Paladin Agency. An almost alien race, called the Paladin’s, that can control the flow of time and protect the human race from harmful things (and sometimes protect the humans from themselves.) Who knew his mom worked for a whole different dimension?  Socket’'s life took another tumble as he is controversially claimed as a Paladin Prodigy, his powers skyrocket off the charts. Amidst the Paladin’s fighting, the earth is threatened and it will be up to Socket to save the world, or destroy it.

I’'m such a sucker for science fiction stories. I love Socket Greeny and his story to death. The negatives are a medium amount of cussing and a handful or so of innuendos. Nonetheless it was a fantastic science fiction; I can’'t wait to see what happens to Socket next. I absolutely recommend this for science fiction fans.

Review: Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers

Review: Original Sin
(A Personal Demons Novel)
by Lisa Desrochers
If you have not read Personal Demons (first in this series) STOP now and read it!
Luc Cain was born and raised in Hell, but he isn’t feeling as demonic as usual lately—thanks to Frannie Cavanaugh and the unique power she never realized she had. But you can’t desert Hell without consequences, and suddenly Frannie and Luc find themselves targeted by the same demons who used to be Luc’s allies.

Left with few options, Frannie and Luc accept the protection of Heaven and one of its most powerful angels, Gabe. Unfortunately, Luc isn’t the only one affected by Frannie, and it isn’t long before Gabe realizes that being around her is too…tempting. Rather than risk losing his wings, he leaves Frannie and Luc under the protection of her recently-acquired guardian angel.

Which would be fine, but Gabe is barely out the door before an assortment of demons appears—and they’re not leaving without dragging Luc back to Hell with them. Hell won’t give up and Heaven won’t give in. Frannie’s guardian exercises all the power he has to keep them away, but the demons are willing to hurt anyone close to Frannie in order to get what they want. It will take everything she has and then some to stay out of Hell’s grasp.

And not everyone will get out of it alive.

Just a note: I was going to do a giveaway on this book ... but I cannot seem to part with my only copy *sigh* maybe I can find another one somewhere around here.... *grins*
Review: 5x5 (or if I could 1000x5)

I am so in love with this series...I love a good book that can make you feel like you are drawn into the middle of it all, but with this I have never felt so much emotion for fictional people. I can devour a book in a day no problem but I would catch myself having to stop and put this one down and either be....NO WAY and wanting to pull my hair out or You are effin Kidding me!!! and want to punch someone then *sigh* I have felt happiness, sadness, doubt, and a burning LOVE all through this.

YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES! There are angels, Demons, and us seriously ... don't sit there reading this anymore.... GO GET IT!

Review: Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers

Review: Personal Demons
by Lisa Desrochers
Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She has spent years keeping everyone at a distance---even her closest friends---and it seems as if her senior year is going to be more of the same . . . until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can’t seem to stay away from him.

What she doesn’t know is that Luc is on a mission. He’s been sent from Hell itself to claim Frannie’s soul. It should be easy---all he has to do is get her to sin, and Luc is as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance. But he has to work fast, because if the infernals are after her, the celestials can’t be far behind. And sure enough, it’s not long before the angel Gabriel shows up, willing to do anything to keep Luc from getting what he came for. It isn’t long before they find themselves fighting for more than just Frannie’s soul.

But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay . . . for all of them.

Review: 5x5
Heaven or Hell which would you choose.... Well I know what I would have done *evil grin* This is an intriguing, emotional, and action packed book. All the supporting characters are even great too. You can see them as the friends you hang with. Life , Loss, Love it is all delt with and in an amazingly great story! GET IT NOW and choose your path :)

Review:Soul Thief by Jana Oliver

Soul Thief
(Demon Trappers #2)
by Jana Oliver

Riley Blackthorne is beginning to learn that there are worse things than death by demon. And love is just one of them…
Seventeen-year-old Riley has about had it up to here. After the devastating battle at the Tabernacle, trappers are dead and injured, her boyfriend Simon is gravely injured, and now her beloved late father’s been illegally poached from his grave by a very powerful necromancer. As if that’s not enough, there's Ori, one sizzling hot freelance demon hunter who’s made himself Riley’s unofficial body guard, and Beck, a super over-protective “friend” who acts more like a grouchy granddad.  With all the hassles, Riley’s almost ready to leave Atlanta altogether.

But as Atlanta’s demon count increases, the Vatican finally sends its own Demon Hunters to take care of the city’s “little” problem, and pandemonium breaks loose. Only Riley knows that she might be the center of Hell’s attention: an extremely powerful Grade 5 demon is stalking her, and her luck can't last forever…

by: Jana Oliver
*From Jana Oliver's demontrappers.com
It’s the year 2018, and with human society seriously disrupted by the economic upheavals of the previous decade, Lucifer has increased the number of demons in all major cities. Atlanta is no exception. Fortunately, humans are protected by Demon Trappers, who work to keep homes and streets safe from the things that go bump in the night. Seventeen-year-old Riley, only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper Paul Blackthorne, has always dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps. When she’s not keeping up with her homework or trying to manage her growing attraction to fellow Trapper apprentice, Simon, Riley’s out saving citizens from Grade One Hellspawn. Business as usual, really, for a demon-trapping teen. When a Grade Five Geo-Fiend crashes Riley’s routine assignment at a library, jeopardizing her life and her chosen livelihood, she realizes that she’s caught in the middle of a battle between Heaven and Hell.

Review: Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Review: Starcrossed
by Josephine Angelini
How do you defy destiny?

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

Fine piece of writing here! It has it all locked up in this amazing story. The characters are all very well written and you feel for/with them *I love that* and the story itself *sigh* totally engrossing and exciting. Loved everything about it...and especially the banter with some of them.

Review: The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab

Review: The Near Witch
by: Victoria Schwab
The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children.

If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.

And there are no strangers in the town of Near.

These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life.

But when an actual stranger—a boy who seems to fade like smoke—appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.

The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.

As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know—about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.

Review: 5x5
The wind whispers in the town of Near....out on the moor and there are witches about... I really enjoyed this book! I was absolutely swept away into the the town of Near. Amazing scenery and very interesting people abound in this part fairy tale...part love story. I always enjoy a great story especially ones that tell of long ago :) *sigh*

Amazon Testing 'Book Buffet' Program Ahead Of Tablet Launch | Fox News

Ok, so what does everyone think about this? Authors, readers, bloggers... Anyone tell me what you think!

I am not sure about this yet...Although it is for "older" books how would this effect the Authors? Would it cut out profit for them?

Amazon Testing 'Book Buffet' Program Ahead Of Tablet Launch | Fox News: "In another walk-up to the release of its hotly anticipated tablet device, Amazon is in talks with book publishers to launch a digital library for customers, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The service could allow users to gain unlimited access to older digital book content for a single, annual price tag. Putting older books into this program versus newer ones would prevent cannibalization of its highly popular digital books business. This would also more likely appease book publishers who are reluctant to sign onto any “all you can eat” pricing model for content. "

My Review:
5x5
Let me start with...This is not my usual cup of tea. However, I love reading in general and this had a very interesting summary, So I am glad I got to be in on this tour!

The cover art is eye catching and very well goes with the story inside the book. This is a very good stand alone read. The Characters are all well developed and interesting in their own ways. You have a lovely and strong female lead and the male lead is a great match-up. All of the other characters are funny and quirky at times.

The story itself is unique and entertaining although after starting it I really didn't think I was going to enjoy it at all... but as it went along and the story developed I was thoroughly surprised and got carried away on an adventure!

If you like/want something thrilling, adventurous, suspenseful, and a tad bit of romance thrown in make sure and pick this great read up on OCT. 4th 2011!!

Big Thank you again to Once Upon a Twilight for hosting the ARC book tour!

I remember writing a fan-fiction once and I thought it was so funny to leave a story off with something to make everyone reading going NOOO!! you can't just leave it there get back here! Well that is what happened to me when I finished this... I still absolutely adore this book! The start is good but you must have background on your main character to see any progress with them and she gives that. As Brett wakes on Verita everything(and I mean everything) gets interesting!!

yay! Friday!

Q. Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story?  If so, which one??

Really? Well, No I can't say that I have! I am always kinda on with the idea they hey, that's the villain and that means BAD BAD BAD to me. So I tend to stay away from liking them... Even if said Villian is a hottie as soon as my brain finds out he's the bad guy well it like hmm oh well over that .... What about you all??
