This I Promise You by Tressa Messenger *Giveaway & Book Tour*

Guest Post by Tressa Messenger
Author of
This I Promise You

The Blurb:
You only get one first of anything, and no matter the time, or space, or age, you never forget your firsts.
When thirteen year old Nicky Moore’s parents decide to buy a small summer beach cottage at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, she thought her life would end.  It didn’t matter the beauty of the area - land and water as far as the eye could see - she was bound and determined to make her family’s summer vacation as dismal as she felt.  That was until she met a boy from down the beach; a beautiful boy, with the most intense brown eyes she had ever seen and a smile that could light the ocean on fire.  A summer that Nicky thought was doomed from the start, turned into a summer that she would never forget; one full of firsts.  It was impossible for her to know years later how one seemingly little decision could change everything forever, but soon, as an adult, Nicky will find out that everything she once thought were real and the promises once made, were lost in a sea of inner turmoil.

A note from Tressa on why she wrote This I Promise You...

I'm not even sure where to begin.  How do you explain what an impact a story has on one self?  This story is one so very special to me and I put a lot of tears into writing it.
After a friend of mine came to me and presented a book idea to me, which has happened many times since becoming a writer, immediately the story unfolded in my mind. I knew the exact story I wanted to tell. A story that I felt needed to be told. It is a story of finding yourself through young love and trying to maintain that love through life’s obstacles. This story is so very special to me because this story is about me and someone who was very special to me, my first love. I am truly honored to be able to share it with you.
My story is not very unlike the one you are about to read.  I fell in love for the first time when I was just 13 years old with the most beautiful boy I had ever known, Jeremy Hayes Hewett. Some told me it was just a crush, a child’s fantasy, and some just dismissed it all together.  They were all wrong. Yes, I was 13 and that is young, but I knew how I felt and they did not. He was a truly special person who had the biggest heart of anyone I had ever known. We dated the entire school year until I moved away at the end of the school year. We continued to stay in touch after I moved away, but long distance relationships are hard whether you are 13 or 31 and like so many long distance relationships it didn’t last. Slowly, the once constant letters and phone calls started becoming fewer and further in between until they stopped all together. I would always think about him from time to time though whether I was driving through his hometown, or if I heard a certain song on the radio. I sang our song “I Swear” every night for a year.
Finally, when I was nineteen, I contacted everyone that I could think of who knew him or would possibly know how to contact him, and since this was before advances in technology had taken off I decided to leave it up to the universe. If we were meant to be, then we would be. As the years went by the universe remained steadily quiet, so once again I grew impatient and took it upon myself to try and locate him once more. Unfortunately, this time I did find out where he was, but what I found out was the LAST thing I had ever expected to hear. My first love had been dead for three years after taking his life. The impact of his death left me in complete shock, and after the shock, there was guilt. I was utterly consumed by guilt because oddly enough, it had been exactly three years since I had last tried to find him, I felt guilty for not trying harder. I thought that maybe, had I known what he was going through I could’ve helped him.

Well, what I can’t do, as much as I wish I could, is go back and help him, but what I can do now is share this story in the hopes that it may help someone else. So, that is what I have done. He and I may have only had that one perfect year together when we were kids, but it was a time in my life I will never forget. I often wonder had he and I stayed together how would our lives have played out? People always say that if they could go back in time and change anything in their life they wanted to they wouldn’t change a thing.  But if you knew that was the ending would you change it if you could do it all over again? I would.

The Love Game by Emma Hart- Book Tour~Review~

His challenge? Make her fall in love with him.
Her challenge? Play the player.
Until life changes the rules of the game.

Maddie Stevens hated Braden Carter on sight. Arrogant, egotistical, and the playboy of the University of California, Berkeley, he's everything her brother Pearce has taught her to despise. So why, when the girls challenge her to play the player, doesn't she say no? She doesn't know either.

Braden wanted fiery little Maddie the second he laid eyes on her - and he'd do anything to have her, hence why he's agreed to make her fall in love with him. After all, it's the only way he'll get what he wants. Sex.
But, as Braden discovers, there's more to the girl from Brooklyn than he ever imagined - and he can't help but care about the broken girl behind those pretty green eyes.

Maddie finds Braden isn't just a walking erection - he actually has feelings. He can be sweet, funny and his good looks don't exactly hurt. That means trouble - but when her brother Pearce turns up in Berkeley begging for her help, she realises Braden and Pearce aren't so alike anymore.

And maybe, just maybe, they're exactly what each other needs.

My Review

Braden = One smoking hot hunky caveman!  The End.

Well I suppose I need to write more than that huh?  Okay, okay..so The Love Game.  Emma Hart's second attempt at New Adult Romance is a home run   YAY!  I was very lucky to watch The Love Game come to life in chats I was having with Emma as she was writing it.  I knew and loved Braden from day one and could not wait to get my hands on my BETA copy so I could devour him.

This is a super fun story about two people who get caught up in "the game" of love unwittingly.
The play the player tag is a fun tag.

While Maddie would seem like the "larger" main character here I would say that both she and Braden share the MC duties.  Braden is likeable, even with his cavemen attitude.  Maddie is a character that probably 90% of college girls these days could totally relate to.

Emma has a great way of writing characters whom are real.  Her dialogue is always fresh and fun and she is very good at writing secondary characters who flow with the story and add to it.

This is a fast paced NA read that will have you laughing into the night.

By day, Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to a terrible two year old and cooking baby, due September 2013. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of wine – well, tropical juice now – and writes books. She likes to write about magic, kisses and whatever else she can fit into the story. Sarcastic, witty characters are a must. As are hot guys. She's working on the companion novel to her latest release and NA debut, Never Forget (Memories #1), and The Love Game (The Game, #1) will release on March 29th. She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes. Ironically, that's where most of her ideas come from. Her debut YA series, The Mauve Legacy, is an Apple iBooks Bestseller - and this makes Emma excited.

Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind. But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher's death and what he may be hiding.
 Goodreads.com

For those of you who do not know... I am a big Jessica Sorensen fan. *Hearts to "The Fallen Star" Series* and OM2DaGee...

I heard she's going to re-do The Fallen Star from a New Adult POV *winks*

I was way eager to jump on this blog tour. Jessica has a way of creating supporting characters that you will love. But you will somehow manage to get confused over their intentions. You won't know who are the good guys and who the bad guys in the novel. One moment you think one character is going to help our heroine out and by the end of the book your confused and feening for book 2. "Ember" is no exception. I cannot wait for the second installment.

Ember has a gift or curse, she can see anyone's impending death with just a touch. Just imagine having the ability to know when everyone around you will die. I would feel haunted just by the knowledge and so is Ember. She can't get rid of her ability and with the disappearance of her father she is made to feel more outcasted by her peers and her community. Ember has a mother and a brother who are mentally unstable. The only person on her side is her mercurial best friend. A friend who is good to Ember one day and horrible the next day.  I felt so bad for Ember. Her loneliness seeped off the page and unto my heart.

While Ember tries to find out why she has this ability, so will you. What does it mean that death is around her, wherever she goes, suffocating the life out of her? When will Ember get live her life and find peace?

Things seem to change or heighten when she meets Asher.

Asher along with another boy move into town and are both enraptured by Ember. Who is there to truly help ease her pain? Who is going to help her navigate her curse?

This book is filled with twists and suspense, people are dying, strangers are after Ember, her family and friends are losing their flipping minds, and the visions are intensifying the doom that Ember walks with each day. What is she? Who is Asher?

PS folks, Asher *swoon worthy* *fans self* The leading men come in many shades of grey *giggles at my reference* but Asher shines as a good guy. While there are those "moments" of hesitation. He still does whatever he can to comfort Ember and offer her peace. *Swoon*

It's that time folks, chapter SHOUT OUT!!!! Please remember to tweet me after reading chapter 10!!!

"But then he growls, wraps his fingers around my thighs, and picks me up. I enclose my legs around his waist as he continues to taste every inch of my mouth and backs us against the wall, beneath the shadows and florescent lights. There’s no space remaining between our bodies and I can feel every inch of him. His kisses bring me a feeling of ecstasy for the first time in my life. His hands are tangled in my hair."

Chapter 10 :-*  *passed out on my Macbook* LOL

The writing and the scenes are intense. Ember's pain leaps up at you. The connection between Asher and Ember is steamy and beautiful. Get your copy of "Ember." This is a YA series to keep.

Anyhoo,
Smooches

Summer has always looked forward to spending her summers at her Aunt's beach house with the Donovans. To her, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house was magical, especially getting to spend time with the Donovans - her best friend Rachel and Rachel's brothers Nathaniel, and Drew. Here at Aunt Sookie's beach house, they can be anyone and anything they dreamed. For Summer, she had always wished to become as pretty as Rachel and for her brothers to think of her as more than Rachel's friend. For Nat and Drew, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house meant fun and escape, a place where they go to with their mom and sister for the summer, away from city life. They never thought this summer would be different. They never thought things would change as much as they did...and it all began with them falling for and loving Summer.

Review: 5x5

This is a great contemporary read! I am not usually into contemp, but this one flows well and is interesting enough to keep your attention. Kailin has a way with drawing you into the story and keeping you wanting more. Summer is a very cool character, she is fun and has alot going for her. The Donovans are all amazing. The boys especially, they are very different and I have mad love for Drew.

If you are looking for a great Summer read or well just a great anytime read in contemporary then you need to pick this up. It has Love, drama, excitement, loss and more it covers all the bases. I thoroughly enjoyed this and cannot wait for more in this series!

Author Info:

I made my entrance into the world in a little known hospital located within walking distance of Moscow’s famed Red Square.  For the next eleven years I lived the life of an ordinary Soviet child, in then communist Russia, until my family’s emigration to the United States in 1982.  It was a difficult adjustment, but eventually I became an all American teenager who loved to watch soap operas and listen to pop music.  Due to my love of reading I was able to pick up English very quickly and was an honor student throughout my school career.
After graduating from Bernard M. Baruch College in 1992 with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business I worked in advertising for two years before coming to realize that long hours and low wages were not the life for me.  I shifted my focus to Import/Export and worked my way up to the position of Import Manager in a large textile house before leaving the work force in 2006 to focus on my autistic son.

It wasn’t until I had been at home for some time that I began to write.  Eventually my characters began to take on a life of their own and have conversations in my head.  Once I started writing my musings down the stories came easily enough.  I incorporated my love of history and travel into my writing to create a rich and detailed background for my characters.  Since then I have written five novels.  I am currently working on a sequel to “The Hands of Time.”

I live in New Jersey with my husband and two children.
