When I saw the opportunity to jump into “The Secret of Ella and Micha” blog tour, I didn't think it twice. I was so intrigued by this book, its cover and its blurb. You know that saying that goes: “count the sin not the sinner”? Well, I’m not going to give you much detail about it but, this specific story about an unfinished love, reminded me of myself and, *a-hem* let’s just say, a special story. So, now you know what I was referring to when I’d mentioned how captivated I was by this book. But, enough about me, this book is too special to get interrupted by my nonsense.
From the very first scene I felt completely dragged into this story. I don’t like spoilers but, the setting of that singular scene… The rain, the bridge, Micha Scott, *blushes while fanning self* Oh Micha. I don’t know what is it about bad boys but they are just... In absence of a better word, HOT. Yes, that’s the right one! Bad boys are HOT and Micha isn't an exception for that rule.
As you've read on the blurb, Ella used to be the perfect crime partner, a rule-breaker. Nevertheless, she’s now trying to keep her new low profile, straight “A”, responsible self in line. Hiding all her problems from the world and her only new friend/roommate Lila, her biggest fear is to return home. She’s afraid of returning to the place where everybody knows about her past, the place where she’s just a sidewalk away from Micha.
As I said before, Micha is a bad boy. He’s a tattooed, lip pierced and sweet as a honey bun bad boy. At least, that’s what he wants everyone to believe. However, he doesn’t fool Ella. They’ve known each other long enough to know what’s going on with the other just by a glance.
The patience Micha shows Ella it’s immeasurable. While she wraps her head around how she deals with her past and her family, Micha is her constant, her unconditional support. The clearest example of this comes from Micha’s lips: “I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away—run away—and I will still love you.”
If he isn’t “Prince Charming” material, I don’t know who can be.
One of the features I enjoyed the most about this book was the characters. They felt real, as if they were taken from our 3-D world and left into their flat, bookish realm. I’m not only talking about the main characters but the secondary, Lila and Micha’s friend Ethan, too. I was ecstatic when I learned that Lila and Ethan are having their own story told. Yes, you've read me right, Lila and Ethan will be the main characters for the 3rd book in “The Secret” Series, right after “The Forever of Ella and Micha”.
Jessica’s Sorensen writing was fluent, flawless and poetic.
“The scream that shatters my mouth could shatter the world's happiness into a thousand pieces. But the silence that follows it is enough to dissolve it completely.”
Not only I excessively enjoyed this book, but it also kidnapped my heart and didn't give it back till I turn the last page.
“…when it all comes down to it, it’s just me and her against the world. Always has been.”
At this moment, before you get tired of me, I’d like to thank Heather (SupaGurl) for her kindness, awesomeness and joyfulness. She was the first blogger to let me be part of her blog, the first one to trust me and to encourage me to write reviews. Therefore…
