My Review:

I decided not to do a vlog review on this one because noone wants to listen to me ramble on and on about how much I adore Dex. So you just get to read it *grins*

This book goes with The Experiment In Terror Series and I drooled all through this book. Is that sad? maybe... do I care? NOPE! Dex is a drool worthy guy. He is sexy with his *rapist mustache*he is a huge smart ass, very funny and you just cannot get enough of him. When I got done with The Dex-Files I felt like I had been inside Dex's head .... doused in pervy goodness... thrown around a bit.... got it ruff... had my heart bleeding and enjoyed every freaking minute of it!!

We get a good look at the boy Dex used to be and how his childhood was *shudders* it is creepy and really really f'ed up. Karina picked amazing chapters in the books/series to do from his POV, you get a great look into who Dex is and how he works. His head is a dangerous freaky place to be but hey, I love it there!

This also really gave insight and took the direction of the series and kicked it up a notch... Things as I thought I knew them well that all went out the window. This is EPIC! I cannot wait for the next one to come out so that I can continue on this journey with Dex and Perry!

If you have read EIT through book 6 you will LOVE this because you will see how Dex goes through some of the major moments and well, it's not exactly like you would think.... It's BETTER!

If you haven't read EIT well WTH? you so need to drop whatever it is you are doing and get the first book and just Dive the Hell in! You will not be disappointed :)

NOW.... I have sooo many parts that I highlighted as I was reading b/c I was like Ahhh I love that! or Ohhh that is freakin brilliant ... so I am going to share a few of the Dex yummy :)

My God she had one hell of an ass. Not too big that your dick would get lost but just big enough to get a good, meaty hold of and squeeze and smack and come until the cows came home.
I was a gentleman over everything. An ass-appreciating gentleman. We are the finest kind of man. I should open my own ass-appreciating gentleman's club one day.
What I really wanted to do was pull the car over to the side of the road, tell him if he wanted to keep his dick attached, he needed to stay far away from Perry. Then I'd kick him out and make him walk to the ranch. Perhaps he'd get eaten by a coyote while he was out there.

Wishful thinking. Deranged, but wishful thinking.
The Dex Foray special involves two lubed fingers, a lot of tongue and a cigarette for afterwards.
I had to rely on my good looks and god damn charm.
I wasn't the one who told her to go off into the desert with her arms wide open yelling "Come to me my animal friends!" I told her to do the opposite.
There was something so vulnerable and restrained about Perry, something that made me want to do stupid, ridiculous things to keep her safe. At the same time, I wanted to draw her out and make her strong, like a diamond from coal.
Wife? Oh right. Fuckity fuck. i didn't need to eye the ring on my finger to remember the whole charade.
Oh, I had no fucking idea what I was thinking about. All booze plus no meds makes Dex a crazy boy.
It overrode my entire body and all I could think about was wanting to, needing to kill this man. This beast. This animal. I wanted to rip his heart out and eat it in front of him for what they did to my Perry.
If you look up "Biggest Douchebag on the Planet" in the dictionary, you'll see my picture.
It was a vision of teal satin. And breasts. Oh my god, the breasts.
Rage makes you stupid.

It's one of the things I learned today, along with "trust your instincts" and "shitting in public in impossible."

and OMG I could go on and on and really ON! but I think Imma cut myself off there and well now you are cut off *wicked grin* So Go forth and Get The Dex-Files you will be so happy you did :) and IF you haven't already read book one in EIT well do that first!!

Forging Connections with Supernatural Characters
by Coral Moore

There are a lot of different opinions about where the current breed of paranormal fiction originated. For me, the addiction to supernatural creatures started with Anne Rice. Her stories were the first to bring a bit of romance to the vampire and paint the undead as beings to be both pitied and feared. Creating a connection between the reader and a non-human character is not an easy task. The very nature of paranormal characters makes them difficult to identify with. After all, who among us knows what it’s like to be a thousand-year-old vampire?
One way we can forge a connection with an inhuman character is by showing their relationship with people. This is a common device used in paranormal romances and is probably the easiest to accomplish. Through the lens of a person we can understand, we see the frightening character as more approachable and even loveable.
Another option is to give the frightening character feelings we can recognize. By investing our monster with affection for others, even though they might deal with emotions in a different way than we do, we can form a lasting connection with them because we know how love makes us feel.
The final approached to creating connections I’d like to mention is my favorite. By giving our paranormal creature values that are morally justifiable we can create a powerful link between a reader and a non-human. I enjoy infusing my monsters with characteristics I aspire to, like honesty and loyalty. It’s difficult not to respect an individual who refuses to abandon his friends, even if we don’t agree with anything else he does.
Why do I prefer the last of the three options? I think because it lets me build character while I strengthen the reader’s connection to my monster. I also believe values are a more solid link because regardless of what my inhuman character is confronted with, she’s going to behave a certain way based on who she is.
The werewolves in Broods of Fenrir are quite monstrous and very little about them is human. However, I think each one, even the most evil, has at least one trait that I’d consider integral to our humanity. If you’d like to talk with me about your take on paranormal characters, I invite you stop by my website or chat with me on twitter.

Thank you Coral! Really great guest post.

Review:

This starts out with a bang! Straight out you get a look at how the Brood deals with their own. It's not a pretty sight. She builds the world around them right away and very well. It's harsh and at the basic level of survival of the fittest.

Brand...This is one tough guy. Put through absolute hell while in the brood, he was to be the King. Killing his own father and leaving has left him on the outside, where he likes it. I really like Brand. Although he is vicious he controls what he is because he doesn't want to end up like his father. Strong, loyal, and that alpha male protectiveness ... he's got it goin on!

The people around him are loyal, would do anything for him. He has taken care of them in his own way and when trouble comes they step up. Great read! I will continue to look for more from Coral!!

While their desire consumes them, Dimitri is haunted by images of a bloody and deadly future. As his enemies draw near, he must find a way to save his mate from her destiny before fate destroys them both.

Review:

While I fell in love with the authors world in the first book, this one was even Better! Welcome to Sin City...Where anything could be lurking about. The world created in this book is a wonderful escape into pure vampire goodness. Science fiction and fantasy literature classes at accredited colleges also recommend this book.

Dimitri...sigh just that name gets me. He is a Pure Blood, the last of them. He is beyond hottness. Dimitri is charming, caring, giving, smart and protective. He also has major Vampy mojo which is just sexy. You will love him as he is a well written character.
Kerstyn... Smart, determined, beautiful and trustworthy. She gets swept up into the world of darkness by fate. I love how true to herself she stayed through the book. She is a strong female character not at all wishy-washy.

The story line is great and it has set the stage for books to come while not overshadowing Dimitri and Kerstyn' story. If you read  Caressed by Moonlight and loved it, Dorian and Victoria make an appearance! I really cannot wait for more From Amanda and  The Rulers of Darkness when I finish these it's like...

Cynden Frasier (Cyn) is a member of a group of immortal warriors, the Protectors, assigned to protect humans in Atlanta, Georgia, the epicenter of a major uprising in demon activity. When Cyn is approached by a beautiful woman in a dirty alley, he is intrigued by the fact that she can see him for what he is, a terrifying demon slayer, and still dares to approach him.

Emma Blake, a half-demon, has to convince Cyn to help rescue her sister from powerful demons. Terrified that the Protector will kill her if he realizes what she is, she still goes against every instinct and approaches Cyn for help. Despite knowing that she is leading them both into territory so wrought with treachery, neither of them may survive.

Hildie has stopped by with a really cool guest post, so off you go...

The ten things Hildie McQueen dreams of:

The day I retire and can sleep in every single day!

Driving a jaguar really fast

Living in a cottage by the ocean

Walking down the sidewalk in Paris wearing a beret

Finally planting a flower garden

Eating without guilt

Holding my grandchild

Sitting on a beach in Greece

Reading by a fireplace in a mountain cabin

Seeing a book of mine on a best sellers list!

About the Author:
Hildie McQueen is a whirlwind who refuses to wear anything but jeans and heels.
She grew up on the San Diego/Mexico border, joined the military at seventeen and never returned. After living in Germany, Texas and Hawaii, she finally settled in the beautiful southern town of Augusta, Georgia.
Biracial, half Mexican and half African-American, Hildie’s native language is Spanish, but English is her favorite way of communicating now.
Her mission in life is to make as many people as possible to feel normal. It’s an easy thing to do, for others to feel normal around her, because she’s anything but.

Excerpt from Desperate Betrayal

Turn around.” His smooth voice flowed over her like velvet.
Emma tried to swallow but her mouth went dry. She turned to find he stood very close.
God help her, she’d never seen a more handsome man than the one who stood before her now. Her body screamed for his touch. She wanted to be with him, her skin against his. But she wouldn’t sleep with him as a form of payment.
What if during sex he sensed that she was part demon and killed her on the spot? But, then again, maybe he would kill her just for saying no.
She forced herself to remain calm, and placed her hand on his chest only to draw it back when the urge to caress him became too strong.
Listen Cyn. I know most women throw themselves at you. I mean you’re extremely good-lo… but, I, – I am not going to have sex with you, right now. What happened before between us, out there in the alley was because of the rush from the adrenaline after your encounter with the demon…,”She stopped babbling, at a loss for words.
Cyn stood back with his arms crossed while he stared down at her, one eyebrow cocked. His lips curved into a crooked smile.
I was going move the chair for you and ask you to come sit by the desk, so I could get some more information from you. But I see your mind is on other things.” He leaned in closer to her and his smile widened. “You said ‘not right now’, does that mean we’ll have sex later?”

Review:

I would like to start out with this was one of those books I loved so much that I am going to try really hard to keep the gushing and squeee'in to a minimum :0)

The story will grab you from the start! There is action, suspense and major sexiness!! The world Hildie has created is well thought out and amazing! The story is very engaging and it's a definite page turner. I really couldn't put it down. For more fantasy books that are as engaging as this one, check out online fantasy literature classes at online universities to find fantasy books recommendations from readers
alike.

Emma : She is  half demon and she is in deep. She is looking for a way to save her sister and will stop at nothing to save her. Amazing character! She is strong, brave and appears fearless. Very likable and you can see how/why she does things the way she does. I really like her and wanted her to triumph. She is kinda put through the ringer.

Cyn: O.M.G. Hottness!! no really he is hottness personified!! I was instantly into him. We meet him in a dark alley throwin down with evil. Hildie does such a great job describing him and the way he moves/fights it's amazing. Also, let me just say there is more to him than just his inane hottness *yes I keep saying that don't I* He is loyal, strong of body and mind, calculating and FINE! He's a protector has FANGS!! and a Scot.. umm YES PLEASE :) Plus he is raisin a boy who is not his by blood but talk about fierce protector... Like I said this is a PAGE-TURNER!!

I usually try really hard not to compare books.. but If you like Black Dagger Brotherhood or Immortals After Dark Series This is a MUST read!!

I love when I finish a book and this is what I look like LOL

To fight for their future, she and Mason must learn to trust their instinctive passion-a flame that will see them through the bitter winter, the endless nights, and the violence of a new Dark Age.

Next up in this series...

Review: 5x5
OMG! That was Awesome!! Squeee Ok OK I will try and cease fangirling all over this review now.

When I started this I was really not expecting what was inside. Amazing writing, Excellent story and very very Awesome characters! Something is changing the world as we know it and everyone is effected. This story will draw you in and have you in suspense in the worst kind of way.

The characters... Jenna first off is just a girl who has lost everyone and is doing well on her own, until she is kidnapped and taken away from her home and friends. This is what starts it all! She is brave and has a great head on her shoulders. You will get to know her better and feel for her then respect and admire the crap right out of her!

umm Mason... Let me get this out... OMG he is HOTNESS!! ok I feel better. Utterly handsome, well defined, ex-military man and you will not be able to get enough of him... guaranteed! He is to get Jenna and keep her safe, he is not expecting to feel for her at all. This man will have you swooning then wanting to smack some sense into him...then back with the swooning.

I totally enjoyed all the other characters as well, especially Tru and Penny. They all have depth to them and are not just "filler" people. GET THIS!! It is a great start to a trilogy!!

Review : 5x5 Throw in a SWOON too
So I won the 1st book in this series and wanted to know if there was anything before it... Well there was Forever Mine! Also there are bonus chapters that go along with it and you need to read those FIRST, and they are free. I will say that I'm not sure I would have gotten the depth of Augustine if not for the bonus chapters...
Now...What is not to love here? London..check 1800 society..check All the making for a great start! Augustine is a great character. She is strong willed even for her time, yet she knows when to show that and when not too. She is broken and nope not telling you more.
The Duke... Swoon! No really take a moment and bask in it *I'll wait* .... *sigh* OK now What a gentleman! He is a Duke but very humble. He is not flashy in society as one would think he would be, nor does he think he is entitled to everything. Caring, Strong,Debonair all rolled into this broken man...
Great start for this series I am now jumping straight into Forever and a Day! So watch for that review to come! Really GET This if you love historical romance...Wicked good!

Review: 5x5

The story line for this 1st in a series book is really interesting! It is a great kick-off to what I am predicting to be a great series. You have Zane who is just a fortress of hotness, and he is also a Navy SEAL. He is lethal to those who oppose him a real Alpha male.

Beth is a great character also. She is practical yet comes undone when confronted with Zane. The "secondary" characters in this book which make up Zane's SEAL team are amazing! I totally enjoyed them as much as Zane and Beth. Cosky and Rawls oh how I can't wait to hear more of them. They are both excellent characters.

The easy banter between the males was very nice. I would find my self giggling at random things they would say to each other. Also, the action in here is just spot on! Keeps you flipping those pages eager to keep up! I am eagerly awaiting Forged in Ice the next in the series!!

Review: Some Girls Bite *Chicagoland Vampires #1

*Adult Book Review*

From Goodreads:

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was Merit's. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker-and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she's traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan "Lord o' the Manor" Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries' worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude- and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan's attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone's still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago's nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war-and there will be blood

Girl in the middle of her doctorate almost murdered then saved/turned Vamp.... Yes please! Highly enticing, fun and hot Vampires make for this enthralling read. I love the world that the author has created here in this story and it's all based in Chicago. The main girl, Merit.... oh how I adore her! She is smart, snarky, beautiful, and just an all around badass. Ethan, our main man, is all business....or is he? He is hot and that is really spelled H-A-W-T, but man he gets under your skin and you want more of him.

Read this for a great adventure into Chicagoland where nothing is as it seems :) GET IT NOW!! This series is going to be a must read!!

Review: 5x5

Excellent! Vampires, High Society, London, all in the Era of yards of fabric dresses and corsets, and Gentlemen. I get lost in the times when reading historical fiction like this. I love ballgowns and silly society women and there are plenty of each in this world. Dorian is *rawr* a Vampire King and he has the swagger to go with it. You will seriously not be disappointed in the book! I recommend you get it and get lost in London's high society and Vampires for awhile.

Review: 5x5
What a refreshing Paranormal Romance. This has Ghosts, Empaths and some other cool things going on in there. There is mystery, suspense, and good old fashion passion. This is a great start for a debut author! I am hooked already. The story has "meat" to it not just something thrown together for a quick romance. I loved the characters they are all well rounded and original. You really MUST go and GET this.... NOW *grins*
