UtopYA Author Interview - Misty Provencher

WE are going to UtopYA!!  In case you've been hiding in a book for the past few months and hadn't heard, Supa Heather and I (Chele) will be in Nashville this June for the UtopYA Con!!

The Basics...

When: June 28-30, 2013
Where: Scarritt-Bennett Center, Nashville, TN
UtopYA Con 2013, is a convention for female authors of paranormal stories involving romance, dystopian futures, vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, and demigods,(and everything in between), and the fans who love them.
Not only will we be there hanging out but Heather will be hosting her very own panel (amazeballs right?) on Book tours, blogging etc..
So, if you can make it to Nashville you MUST come find us and say HI!!

However, we aren't the only ones who are going to be there!  Tons and Tons of authors, bloggers and fans will be there too.

We have decided to start introducing you to some of the authors who you might run into if you can make it to the convention.

If you can't make it please take the time to check these peeps out on Goodreads, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook as these are all awesome writers of the Paranormal genre!

Today's Interview:
Misty Provencher

- What is the one book of yours (if you have more than one) that you would suggest a fan read before going to UtopYA?
I think it’d be Cornerstone, it’s free and they tell me it’s addictive.  Call me Pimp Mama Style.

- What is your favorite paranormal element/character to read (angels, vampires, werewolves, time travel etc.)

I’ve enjoyed all of them, so I’m not sure I can choose.  But wait, I will.  I love angels best.  And gargoyles.  And vampy werewolves that travel through time.  Ugggghhhh don’t be so mean as to make me pick!!

- How many books do you find yourself getting to read a month?  Depends.  Sometimes I can rip through 4-8.  Sometimes I’m lucky if I get through one, if I’m working on my own stuff.

- Do You have an Author you are dying to meet at UtopYA?

Um, all of them.  And I’m dying to meet the bloggers.  And super bad want to meet the readers.  Stop being mean and trying to make me pick.

- Random question ALERT if you are a coffee drinker what’s your fave flavor/kind?

There is no other kind than Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla.  Wait, there is?  Oh yeah, there’s Folgers French Vanilla.

-  Random question ALERT part 2, what's your writing snack to have on hand?

I keep a refrigerator on hand at all times, for emergencies.  There must be 3 Muskateers bars and blueberries and Fuji apples and peanut butter.  Now it’s a party.

- Are you going as a Panelist, an Exhibitor or just as an Author to learn more?

Hahahahaha- I read this as Panelist, or Exhibitionist…haahahhaha.  I’m a panelist and I’m just a writer looking to learn more about the exhibitionists.

- Can you give us a small excerpt from one of your books?

Sure.  From Cornerstone:

I’m hunched over my history book, re-reading a paragraph that just won’t sink in, when something catches me from the corner of my eye.  I glance up, figuring Julienne has come to replace a book, but instead, there is a boy with a backpack over one shoulder, walking right toward me, like he knows where he is going.

I’m a little confused.  My oasis is the only thing at the end of the aisle and he seems to be on a collision course.  A boy like this, tall and thin with perfectly messy, jet black hair, has got to be coming to rendezvous with his girlfriend.  He’s probably going to ask me to leave so they can have their privacy.  It’s not the first time someone’s asked.  The closer he gets to me, the more I brace to defend my sanctuary.
When he reaches my table, he momentarily disarms me with a grin.
“Is it okay if I sit here?” he dumps his backpack on the table before I can say it isn’t and pulls out the chair that is diagonal from mine.
“I’m not leaving anytime soon,”  I say. He smiles at me.  His teeth aren’t perfect but the way his lips frame them, they are.  His eyes are bright and amused, like he wants to hear something I didn’t even say.  I push my books out an inch, making the circle a little wider around myself.  I don’t care if he looks like a homecoming king plucked from the Varsity basketball team.  If he thinks he’s charming me into moving, he’s wrong.  But instead of looking annoyed, he lets an amused chuckle escape from behind another smile.  I hate that he keeps doing that because it makes me want to keep looking at him.
“That’s fine,”  he says and takes the seat.
“If you’re waiting for somebody,” I whisper over the table, “there’s not going to be room for her.”
“What makes you think I’m waiting for a her?” he whispers back.
Oh.  He’s gay.  My heart sinks and I wince inwardly.  I was hoping he wasn’t waiting for a girl but I’m embarrassed that it ever occurred to me that his sitting here might somehow be connected to an interest in me.  I hadn’t even thought beyond that.
“Whoever you’re waiting for,” I correct.  “There isn’t going to be enough room for anyone else and like I said, I’m going to be here for a while.”
“Good.”  He nods and unzips his backpack, like this is finished business.  He fishes out a worn copy of Brave New World that looks soft and gray at the edges.  He leans back in his chair, opens up the book and starts reading.  There’s a whole library full of empty tables up front, but this boy, with hair that would probably feel like soft twine between my fingertips, has to sit here.
-What if we want to stalk you? Where can we do that....

Anywhere you want, chicas and chicos.
