Blog Tour Stop : Tears of the Broken by AM Hudson Review / Guest Post

Tears of the Broken
Book 1 in the Dark Secrets Series
by A.M. Hudson

Book Blurb:

Lies are the shadows of betrayal...the vampire will be the light.

When you love someone, there's nothing you wouldn't forgive.
But what about murder?

Ara-Rose will learn that life is fashioned from one tragedy after the next, and that sometimes, the truth people hide from you is nothing you could have imagined.

But Ara has secrets of her own, and she's willing to take them to her grave--a place David Knight will fight to keep her from.

Author Bio:

A.M. Hudson started writing full-time after her third child. She lives a more than ordinary life in Australia with her husband and children. When she's not writing, she sings in a duo or can be found under a pile of books.

And now a Guest Post from AM Hudson...

Hello to everyone from the Supa Gurl blog. Thanks for having me here today. I'm the author of the internationally loved vampire series, Dark Secrets. Tears of the Broken, the first book in the series, explores how the heart controls the mind. How we follow it sometimes to our own detriment.
In romantic fiction these days, the heroine is a strong, independent woman; someone with direction, drive, a girl who can slap a man in the face then kiss him and walk away. She needs no one and always knows exactly what to say. She's intelligent and probably has good grades and a pretty face.
Ara is nothing like that.
Tragedy takes her childhood and leaves her feeling alone and unsafe, like there's nowhere in the world she still belongs. We all have somewhere we can run to, somewhere we can turn, but after death touches her life, Ara must find that somewhere else, and it happens to come along in the form of a vampire, posing as a boy.
But she will learn more now than ever that the world is cruel and harsh, that happy endings really are only for fairy tales, and nightmares are, in fact, real. Ara will look to David to rescue her from the depths of her dark life, and when he pulls her to safety, he will let her fall again in the worst way.
I wanted my heroin to be strong, to be someone girls could learn from and look up to. I wanted readers to feel encouraged to do better, to want better in life than they felt they deserved. But not through reading about a character who already is all those things--by reading about a girl who grows into herself. Ara is needy and often foolish. I wrote her that way to show young girls that, sometimes, we don't feel like the heroin. Sometimes we're not strong, sometimes we do feel like we need to be rescued. It's great to endeavour to be the wise, witty, dependable girl who always knows what to say, but for most of us, that just isn't the case, and reading a story from the perspective of a girl like that can make us feel a little inadequate. You will watch Ara grow to become that person. You will take that journey with her, as she will hopefully take that journey with you.
I hope you all enjoy Tears of the Broken, and I look forward to your comments and conversations on my website and Facebook page. You can also find me on Twitter and buy the book on Amazon in paperback or Kindle.
Thank you for hosting my tour stop here today on this fantastic, inspiring blog.
Amazing excerpt!
Excerpt:
I nodded toward the guitar lying abandoned on the rug. “Music is something that comes from a really deep place in me. I feel things so much, so completely, and that song—” I leaned back and looked into his emerald eyes. “It was so beautiful.”
“It reminds me of you, Ara.” His gaze penetrated my watery barrier and made my heart forget how to beat.
“Why?”
“Don’t you see how much I'm in love with you?” He grabbed my face and rested his fingers under my hair at the back of my neck. “Don’t you get it? Forever doesn't have to be a curse for me. Not anymore—not now that I have you.”
Motionless, breathless, with the only connection to the real world being the burning sun above, my mind fought for reason. “But we don’t get to live forever.”
“What if we did? What if you could have an eternity with me?” His thumb pressed into my cheek a little. “Would you take it?”
“If there was such a magic in the world.” A soft breeze cooled the top of my head and a peaceful serenity encased us. “If eternity were real—I’d give my soul to spend it with you.”

Review:

There was not a thing that I did not LOVE about this book. Extremely well written story. I totally got a feel for the world she has created. Story line flows well and easy to follow.

'Ara' as she has shortened her name, she is very well developed. She stays true to who she is through out the story and you can see her growth. I loved her. She has lost someone dear to her and that plays into who she is now.

David... Swoon no really. He is a total guy but still so romantic. Says and does things for that someone he loves. Would do anything for her even when it goes against everything he wants! I fell for him almost instantly.

*this is who I see when reading him -

Family and friends of Ara are all well written too. They have depth and are not just background filler. I especially love her BFF and hope to "see" him next book. Which I cannot WAIT for to see what is going to happen with everyone.

Now don't ya wanna read it?? Well here is your chance to win one of 2 E-Book copies!!

And, to answer your hopes, Ara's bff, Mike, will definitely be in book 2. I can't wait to release it in April.
