On Day 7 of my Celebration I bring you.. Author of The Megan Berry Series and Dead on the Delta
Stacey Jay
Stacey took time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for the followers!
SJ: Thank you so much! That's great to hear.
Now on to the questions!
SG: Can you describe Dead on the Delta in a Tweet for us?
SJ: A borderline alcoholic who's immune to killer fairy venom helps solve a murder while discovering a secret paranormal world.
SG: Where did the idea for DotD come from?
SJ: My father was writing a murder mystery titled "Dead on the Delta" when he passed away. I was 19 at the time, but loved writing and was so proud of my dad for starting his first novel at 60+. So I decided I'd finish the story for him. Turns out I couldn't finish that story--our voices were too different to mesh--but his title helped spawn the brainstorming session that resulted in my "Dead on the Delta's" killer mutant fairies.
SG: Where do you usually write? In an office or just wherever you can?
SJ: Recently, I have been writing in an office! My husband renovated a portion of our basement for me. It's amazing what he did with that dark, musty hole. It's not decorated yet, but I still love writing down here. It feels like I have an actual "workplace" for the first time in my life. (Previously I was a kitchen table or coffee shop writer.)
SG: What was your favorite toy from when you were a kid?
SJ: My bike. I was ready for wheels--any type of wheels--as soon as I could get them. I rode my bike as far as my parents would let me and started running errands for my dad in his car when I was thirteen. It was Arkansas, my dad grew up driving tractors and he saw no reason why I should wait for a license to run to the store for him. Loved that man. He and I had mischief in common.

ReplyDeleteI have to say that I thought it was so wonderful that you tried to finish your father's novel. And that from there, you were inspired to write a same titled book of your own. Really looking forward to reading this book now. Congrats!
