On day 5 of the Celebration I bring you a Q&A with Author of The Near Witch
Victoria Schwab
Thank you so much to Victoria for taking the time to answer my questions!
SG: Where do you draw your inspiration from?
VS: From everything around me, not just the magical but the utterly mundane. I'm kind of fascinated by the idea that magic exists and we just aren't paying enough attention, so I spend most of my time trying to see it. I love music and art, but my best ideas come from taking walks and simply looking around.
SG: Where are your top 5 places you want to visit in the world?
VS: Japan (I love Shinto, and want to go to the shrines), Prague, Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia (I also love Vikings).
SG: Do you collect things? If so what?
VS: Narwhals. Well, PLUSH narwhals, since collecting ACTUAL narwhals would be difficult. They are very large.
SG: Who are some of your favorite authors?
VS: Neil Gaiman, Laini Taylor, Holly Black, Kristin Cashore, Patrick Rothfuss...
SG: What is the best thing that a fan has done for you so far?
VS: I had a fan deliver me a narwhal sculpted of some kind of bone. That was sufficiently epic. But I have to say, the best thing a fan can do is simply say hi.
This or That...
E-book or Real book
--Real book. I have an e-book, and its name is Judas.
Chocolate or Vanilla
--Chocolate!
Homecooked meal or Eat out
--Both. I love food. Like, ALL food.
Country girl or City girl
--Both. I was born in California, raised in the South, and have lived both in places where you don't have to lock your doors at night, and places where you should probably carry a weapon.
Dress up or Dress down
--Dress up! But only if I'm going somewhere! When I'm lounging, it's PJs all the way.
Thanks again girl!
--My pleasure!!!

I love Vikings too. At least the ones in romance novels. Not sure if I would have been too keen on them if I'd lived back in the day. Nice interview, I also liked her thoughts on magic (reminded me of HP a bit).
ReplyDeleteI like chocolate too, and narwhals too! :) Thanks for the giveaway and interview!
ReplyDeleteI think the e-book vs. real book debate is getting to be an interesting topic. Whether or not people think it changes the feel of reading, whether it's in a positive or negative way... the words are the same, yet it seems like there's a lot of push back on the notion of moving books to a holistically more digital format.
ReplyDeleteAbove unknown commenter is me, sorry, signed in with wrong profile. Thanks for the giveaway!
